Human Bones Recovered at Compost Site

(SAUGEEN SHORES, ON) – Members of the Saugeen Shores Police Service (SSPS) and the Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) worked together on a joint investigation following the discovery of bones.

On October 19, 2023, a citizen contacted police after discovering what appeared to be human skeletal remains at the Southampton compost site and called SSPS. 

Members of the public saw an increased police presence in the area of the Southampton Compost Site at 162 Concession 14 in Saugeen Shores and Bruce Road 13 while police conducted their investigation.

After a thorough examination by a forensic anthropologist, it has been determined that the located remains are human and have been determined to be historic in nature and will not be part of a criminal investigation.
