Shoplifting leads to other charges
On January 14th 2022 Police were dispatched to a report of a shoplifting from a local business in the Town of Port Elgin.
Police located a vehicle matching the description at a separate location.
Two occupants of the vehicle were placed under investigative detention at that time.
During a frisk search for weapons a quantity of suspected Fentanyl was located on the passenger. Both parties were arrested for Possession of controlled substance.
Further to the investigation a collapsible baton was located on the passenger floor of the vehicle and a set of licence plates that were not registered to either occupant were seized.
As a result of this investigation:
A 29-year-old man from Owen Sound has been charged with Possession of a controlled substance (Fentanyl) and Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose.
A 32-year-old woman from Owen Sound has been charged with Possession of a controlled substance (Fentanyl) and Possession of property obtained by crime.
