Impaired Driving Arrest in Port Elgin
Media Release – Impaired Driving Arrest
On Sunday, August 11th at approximately 2:30am, staff at local licenced establishment alerted police to an intoxicated man who was about to drive a vehicle.
Officers arrived on scene and located the man and a female passenger seated in his parked vehicle with the engine running. The investigating officer administered a roadside breath test to the man, which he failed.
He was placed under arrest and transported to the station for further investigation.
While at the station the man provided two breath samples into an Intoxilyzer instrument, resulting in a fail.
A 34 year old Tiverton man has been charged with:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration
His driver’s licence was administratively suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for seven days. He was released on a promise to appear in court in September.
